This is a really nice park. Not only can you load boats onto the lake but you can have some fun playing with your kids. The only thing that I would suggest that they should improve is the rocks that they have in the so-called Beach area. You have to wear shoes to go in there because those rocks are ridiculous on your feet.
Beautiful, serene, tranquil park. We went, site unseen, and was pleasantly surprised. Beautiful water as far as the eye can see; gorgeous trees and walkways, a man made beach area, places to launch your boats and water toy devices. Definitely an alternative if you want a taste of the beach without traveling 3+ hours to the shore!
Went for to swim, I was charged 10 dollars, but as soon as I got to the gates of the VERY crowded beach area I was turned away. Turns out, dogs aren't allowed in that area, which would have been nice to know but there are no signs anywhere stating otherwise.
My intent had been to get in the water with my dog, but your only allowed in the water in the beach area, where dogs are not.
Nice public acces and dog park with a recently imported sand pay to access beach at the end that's life guarded and fenced. Just a general state made park connected to lake Norman with a boat launch and rich folk play area.
I really like this park. It's a nice day trip with small kids. You pay an entrance fee $5 per card during the week or $10 per car on the weekend starting Friday. The playground is so much fun! And the little beach is not Sandy but more pebbly. I definitely recommend taking swimming shoes. The beach is very low so perfectly fine for toddlers and little kids. Dont recommend it for advanced swimmers.
I walked all the way back to my car before deciding to utilize the dog park. That's my only positive here. All dogs were polite and understanding that my dog only wanted to stretch her legs and not play. The lot is huge with shade, several benches, and a water station. There were a few droppings around but that's because of negligent owners and it was already hours into open time.
I'd likely go back for the dog park, since that is free and my dog enjoyed herself. I just wish I hadn't been charged if I wasn't allowed in the water anyway.
